1. Wearing black socks with everything.
Try gray socks with gray or navy blue suits. Subtle designs can work great too.
2. Letting your shirttail pull out.
Buy shirts long enough that are unlikely to pull free.
3. Pulling your hair into a pony tail.
This seldom makes a man look younger or better. Couple that with a receding hairline and this blunder is off the scale.
4. Carrying a cheap briefcases.
This detail can reflect badly on your attire. Buy the best leather you can afford. It will serve you for years.
5. Wearing penny loafers with a suit.
Casual footwear is incompatible with dress clothing.
6. Exposing you shins.
Wear socks that are long enough. Seeing that hairy or white shin spoils the view of a dress attire. Leave that for the gym.
7. Wearing clip-on suspenders.
Button-on braces have six points of support to help keep your pants up, while clip-ons have just three. The metal alligator clips don’t look dressy enough to work with a suit.
8. Leaving your double-breasted suit unbuttoned.
Double-breasted suits are meant to be worn buttoned. They don’t hang well unbuttoned.
9. Buying shirts with sleeves that are too long.
A shirt sleeve should end at the point where your wrist and hand come together and extend only half-inch beyond your jacket.
10. Wearing an undersized belt.
Wearing the correct size has a slimming effect. On the other hand, wearing a belt so long it doubles around your waist or that barely reaches to lock into place looks terrible.
